SNOW DAY 2011 (28 Aug)

We checked the Web Cam on the Stratford Ski Field and all pictures showed Great Snow , Great Weather and NO WIND. So two extended families set off – the smallest being 2 1/2 years old

All of us met at the Stratford Ski Field Car park and climbed into our winter woollies.

Setting off up the track it wasn’t long before the littlest member needed help as the snow was just too deep and this came in the form of a blue barrel cut in half and skilfully towed by Luke – Thank you.

All 9 of us made steady progress up to the public shelter and once there Jayden & Cody were off having fun with Luke & Len. Amy got her tickets and was off snowboarding – she had several runs before returning for lunch.The others either took pictures or looked after the smaller members who were having a much needed snack to tide them over till lunch. Watching up at the top tow we saw some really adventurous skiers and knowing how steep it is made my hair stand on end.

We all joined up for lunch then off Luke Len Jayden & Cody we went to a higher slope for sledging joined by Sharon taking photos. While Amy, Mia & Hilary headed off up the learners slope so that Mia & Amy could snowboard down while Newton took photos. This all took a lot of effort due to the deep nature of the snow.

Hilary then joined Sharon on a Blue Half Barrel run but both of us decided that is was rather bumpy and needed some serious bum movement to have any sort of control over where you where going to end up.

Well it was time to call TIME and we all started our slow head back down the track to the car park. Once we got passed the flying fox Amy picked up her board and wanted to put Mia on it for a good ride down but she had other thoughts.

Mia liked the idea of Nana & Poppa pushing/pulling her down on her little sledge but this was just too slow so it was onto her mother’s board and she was back at the car park in rather quick time while Nana & Poppa trudged behind.

What a great day – All kids had fun. All adults had fun. Thanks to all – with everyone’s help we all got there and back safely.
