6 Dec - Orienteering, Ratapihipihi. Starting from 285 Barrett Rd, there will be signage. Note that the driveway is easy to enter going up Barrett Rd, but an acute angle as you come down the road. Starts from noon to 1.30pm, Contact Jacqui S 06-7510676

13 Dec – Christmas is closing in so we’ll take a break until January.

Sun 10 Jan, 2pm - 5pm, Urenui Village Ramble. Meet Urenui Domain Campground Store. Experience something of the early pioneers' lives, including Noel Nairn walkway and Urenui Beach.

15,16,17 Jan – NZ MTB Orienteering Champs in Taranaki. Rogaine from East End on Friday night.
Sprint and Middle distance at cemetery/WITT/NPBHS/NPGHS on Saturday.
Long distance at Lake Mangamahoe on Sunday. All welcome, including non-orienteers but pre-entry is required.

24 Jan – Lake Ratapiko to Motukawa Power Station with Stratford Tramping Club. Meet Inglewood Railway Stn carpark for car pooling. Join Stratford Tramping Club for a walk over back country farmland, a good hill climb is included!

Sun 31 Jan, 10.30am-2pm, Pukeiti Rainforest Explorer. Meet Pukeiti Gatehouse. walk to the Puketewhiti summit and beyond, Enjoy the sights and sounds of this fantastic environment where exotic rhododendrons overlap with native forest.
31 Jan – Beach BBQ - venue TBC

Sun 7th Feb, 8am-1pm, Purangi Kiwi Project Otuhane Scenic Reserve. Meet Inglewood Railway Station carpark for car pooling.Walk this private QEII covenanted reserve with ETET, find out about the forest rich in biodiversity and home to fern bird, bellbird, NZ falcon, NZ robin, bats and kiwi.  The hill country circuit passes through paddocks, pines, native bush (including rimu). Gold coin donation to Kiwi Project.

Sat 13th Feb, 8am-4pm, Arnold Rd to McCluggages tunnel & old mill site. Meet at Bell tower Miranda St, Stratford for car pooling, park in War Memorial carpark. Join Stratford Tramping Club for a walk over farmland, though tunnel with glow worms, through bush to an old mill site.

Sat 20th Feb, 8am-4pm, Northern Coastal Pipeline Trek. Meet 125A Brooklands Rd 8am for car pooling or at the start at 8.45am (5km north of Uriti Hall, SH3 - off road parking available). Join NPTC for a 6 hour walk following the Maui pipeline. You'll overlook coastal forest, pass through Wai Pingao valley and onto the Whitecliffs Walkway.

Program for Aug - Sept 2015

2 Aug – Orienteering, urban rogaine. Starting at Westown School, Sanders Ave, registration 11.30am for noon start, up to 3 hours for the event. Suitable for walkers, runners and cyclists. Cost $10 per team ($5 junior), bring a pen to record the answers. Contact Jacqui 7510676

16 Aug - KOPAC Lodge to Plane Wreck: - Up to RTM and back through the bush. Meet at Lodge 10am.

 Tues 25 Aug – A night at the Observatory, Marsland Hill, Robe St. 7.30 to 9pm, best to go if the sky is clear. $5 adults, $3 children. The guys are there regardless of the weather as there is always something interesting to see besides stars and planets.

30 Aug - The Airdale Shipwreck Walk: -   Meet 2.00 p.m. at Waitara Golf Club, Mouatt St. Waitara. Tide is 0.1 m at 4.00 p.m.

NZ Mountain Film Festival 5th Aug - Events Cinema


The Taranaki Alpine Club is happy to bring the NZ Mountain Film Festival to New Plymouth:
Wednesday 5th August at 6.30pm at the Events Cinema.
On offer is a selection of the best films screened during the recent Mountain Film Festival in Queenstown including the Grand Prize Winner: Myanmar: Bridges to Change as well as
El Sendero Luminoso, voted Festival’s Best Short Film and 2 Minute Men voted Best NZ Made Film


Everybody welcome, you don’t have to be an Alpine Club member to attend.

7th June: - KOPAC Lodge to Plane Wreck: - Up to RTM and back through the bush. Meet at Lodge 10am.

14th June: - Urenui Mud Run. A number of SAR volunteers are helping with setup, marshalling and tidy up

28th June: - Cliffs Tunnels Bike Ride. Meet at Te Wera School Camp for a 33km cycle ride to another fascinating old Taranaki tunnel 10am Contact Cliff

7 Feb – Waitangi weekend

15 Feb – Bike ride at Mangamahoe. More new tracks to explore. Meet at 10am at Plantation Rd carpark. Contact Jacqui 7510676

22 Feb – Tarata Saddle to the Wind Wand. A long day on back county roads, including a tunnel. We will be following part of the NZ Cycle Trail route. Bring plenty water. Contact Neil S 7510676 as we need to plan transport.

8 Mar – Taranaki Anniversary weekend. The Kaponga Lions Club MTB ride is possibly on this weekend.
