Interesting MTB stuff from FMC

Great walks or great rides? MTB riding on the Kepler and Hollyford tracks.
There is significant interest from bikers and business in Te Anau and Manapouri region. FMC is interested in member’s opinions of this proposal. Email your views to secretary@fmc.org.nz

MTB on Heaphy – DOC will be reviewing the 3 year trial later this year, send comments to mtbtrialsnm@doc.govt.nz and also to FMC as above

Old Ghost Road Cycleway keypoints:
80km track links Lyle to Seddonville and is administered by a trust.
Trail and huts are now open, but funding constraints resulted in the central 25km portion (Ghost Lake to Goat Creek) being only constructed to tramping route standard
There has been severe loss of wilderness and landscape values in the revised route across the Lyle Range
There have been lapses in quality of care for the environment (track width, down-slope debris, tree felling)
The cycleway does make more accessible some beautiful and historic NZ backcountry
The 4 new huts are of a high standard
The Trust requires further funding to complete the trail
